Jacoba Matapo

Jacoba's research engages in Pacific philosophy and posthuman theory to critique Pasifika education research. From a strengths-based position, her research centres Pacific indigenous philosophy and creative arts to re-imagine Pacific subjectivity in Pasifika education. Her focus in Pacific philosophy calls into question tensions of normativity and teleological ethics in research practice and processes. As a Samoan/Dutch Pasifika academic she has experience in educational leadership across sectors, from early childhood education to tertiary ITE. As an academic Jacoba, locates her work within transnational multiplicities, to engage rigorously in Pacific indigenous knowledge systems to reconceptualise notions of Pasifika success in education from a decolonising agenda.
